£Å£Õ¡¡agreement on Silica

Ref: Crystalline silica ¨C Europe¡¯s first multi-sector agreement
On April 25, 2006, the European industry and trade unions signed an agreement on silica to be implemented in EU countries. By signing this agreement the EU has shown nothing else than their willingness to accept a ¡°double Standard¡± policy when comparing Silica and Chrysotile.
What the EU is doing could help us lessen the resistance of the Brussels policy to chrysotile. ICA suggests that in all countries, members could take this opportunity to restate our position on chrysotile, questioning why the same principles should not apply to natural fibres (chrysotile).
